What is Ledger® Live and why Login is different

Ledger® Live is the official companion application for Ledger® hardware wallets. Unlike online wallets that require username and password, a Ledger® Live login is a hardware-authenticated pairing: you connect your device, unlock it by entering your PIN on the device itself, and approve actions directly on the hardware. This design keeps private keys offline and significantly reduces risk from compromised computers.

Ledger® Live Download — Desktop & App

Obtain Ledger® Live only from official sources. The app comes in two main flavors: Ledger® Live Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and the mobile Ledger® Live App (iOS/Android). After downloading and installing, open the app and select Get started to connect your device.

Step-by-step: Ledger® Live Login

  1. Launch Ledger® Live and choose Connect device.
  2. Physically connect your Ledger® hardware (USB or Bluetooth where supported).
  3. Enter your PIN directly on the Ledger® device (never type your PIN into the computer).
  4. Approve the app connection on the device when prompted — this completes the Ledger® Live login.

Note: Ledger® Live authenticates via the device — there’s no cloud-stored password for your private keys.

Troubleshooting Ledger® Login Issues

Common problems include Ledger® Login not working, Error Connecting Ledger® Account, or the Ledger® Live App not working. Try these practical steps:

If the app still fails, collect logs (if prompted) and contact the Ledger® Help Center for guided support.

Specific errors & ecosystem notes

Can't verify Ledger® Wallet often signals mismatched firmware or outdated Ledger® Live. Update both components and retry. If you see Unable to Ledger® Trezor or similar, remember Ledger® Live and Trezor devices belong to separate ecosystems — use Trezor Suite for Trezor hardware.

Account Recovery & 2FA guidance

Your master recovery method is the 24-word recovery phrase created during initial setup. If you lose the device, restore this phrase on a new Ledger® device or compatible wallet to regain access. Ledger® cannot reset or recover your seed. Regarding two-factor authentication, Ledger® does not manage third-party 2FA (for exchanges or apps). Reset 2FA through those service providers; Ledger® only secures on-device keys.
